About Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji
o:m asmad gurubhyo: namaha
God takes different forms of which the form of a Sri Vaishnava Acharya is the one that is more easily accessible to us.
We can enjoy the Divine grace, its for us, to serve Him in a human form. Acharya HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji was born in 1908 to a pious couple Sriman Vangipuram Mangayacharya and Srimathi Chudamma, at Kakinada E.G.District of Andhra Pradesh. Sowmya Na:ma Year, Sravana Month, divine asterism of Uttarabhadra. He was named as Sri Thirvengalacharya.
He was later adopted by the holy couple Sriman Chilakamarri Krishnamacharya & Smt. Narsamma and then onwards his name became Srimannarayana.
Swamiji pursued his studies in English as well as Tamil scriptures in Madurai for 12 years. He mastered Sanskrit and Kavyas at Arthamur E.G.Dist. Then he studied the highly acclaimed Sanskrit Literature of Vedic System viz., Tharkam, Nyayam etc. from Sriman Thuni Rangacharya Swami and Sri Gopalacharya Swami.
He was married to Smt. Alamelumanga who was proved a holy companion in all his services. At her very young age of 28 she attained Mukthi. By then they had 3 sons and one daughter.
Right from his childhood Swamiji was an avid social worker. He served poor and suffering people by helping them in many ways. He took part in the National Freedom movement led by Mahatma Gandhi.
He is the first person known in the modern history, in those days of 1940s, who gave away his own land in charity to the suffering Harijans and also constructed houses for them. The first colony for rehabilitating Harijans was constructed by HH Sri Swamiji at Arthamur. Even today, it is there in his divine memory. To mark this unique occasion, the later generation has set up a statue of HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji and the colony was named after him that can be seen even today.
Tree planting, digging wells, giving clothes, providing handlooms, serving old and suffering were all his daily activities. Swamiji encouraged everyone to join together and perform collective prayers for the good of the society. In those days He motivated everyone to come together and build facilities in their villages. People used to adore him for all his noble activities.
By the divine grace of Acharyas, he happened to meet Gopalacharya Swami with whom he studied the highly profound authentic scripture "Sribhashyam" of Bhagavad Ramanuja from a renowned scholar of high acclaim, Sri Ramanujacharya of Mandasa Srikakulam Dist.
He understood the depth of subjects and glory of our Vedic culture and he decided to spread this Vedic fragrance to the people all over. Along with Sriman T.K.Gopalacharya Swami, he established "Sri Visishtadwaitha Pracharaka Sabha" that conducted seminars and congregations of scholars extensively to educate people. He himself started spreading the messages of Acharyas all over. People enjoyed the nectar of his divine spell.
From Sriman T.K.Gopalacharya Swami, a profound scholar adored by all the Sanskrit scholar community through out India, Swamiji mastered Bhagavad Vishayam, a nectarian repository of devotion unto Lord Supreme, presented by Acharyas through the commentaries to the compositions called Divya Prabandhas of great saints Alwars. The whole of 4000 celestial songs called Divya Prabandha is treated at par and often even more than Vedas ( by exaggeration, for their ease of accessibility) of for they are easily available to one and all, in the form of divine songs that can be recited and offered to Lord irrespective of caste, creed and other barriers.
Swamiji mastered our original historical holy scriptures called Ithihasas viz., Sri Ramayanam of sage Valmiki and Sriman Maha Bharatham of sage Veda Vyasa. He learnt Dharma Sasthras, Puranas and Rahasyas along with their commentaries from great scholars.
There were many scholars who learnt and preached Spiritual values, but, Swamiji exemplified by practicing them in a highly sacred and devoted manner with lot of perseverance and commitment. The divine manifestation as " Swamiji " was quickly identified by the realised people as well as the common people all around. Swamiji moved through length and breadth of India and also Nepal in spreading the divine glory.
